We expect to launch our graduate program in the fall of 2014. The graduate program in sociology at UC Merced will prepare graduates for careers in academia, non-profit research organizations, public service, and the private sector.

Our program will offer students a rigorous education. Students will receive extensive training and experience in social theory, multiple research methods and advanced statistics.  Students will choose among graduate concentrations in inequality/stratification, gender, education, and political sociology.

For the 2011/2012 academic year, we will consider applications to the PhD program in Social and Cognitive Sciences (with an emphasis on sociology). However, only outstanding applicants who have completed their MA and most of their course work for a PhD will be considered.
