Bio:
Destina is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology. She is born and raised from Ogden, Utah and enjoys hiking, walking their dog, and engaging in community-based volunteer work. Their current ethnographic project analyzes how young people are processing identity formation, space making, and healing both internally and within a community-led collective, guided by mentors, practitioners, and elders using an Indigenous pedagogy lens. Destina's areas of research interests include: race/ethnicity, Latine/x/a/o Sociology, (im)migration, young people and youth, space/space making, meaning making, and language/linguistics.
