Dodson Publishes New Article in Sociological Perspectives

November 1, 2015

Professor Dodson’s article on the importance of economic threat for protest participation was recently accepted for publication at Sociological Perspectives.  The articles demonstrates that the mobilizing influence of economic threat (in this case, rising unemployment) is strongest when individuals lack economic protection, where important sources of economic protection come from either occupational benefits or welfare state assistance.  The findings show how the likelihood of protest participation is a function of both individual and contextual factors.  The article can be accessed here: http://spx.sagepub.com/content/early/2015/10/13/0731121415608508.full.pdf
