Kimberly Garcia-Galvez

Bio: 

Kimberly is a Latinx first-generation college student from Santa Maria, CA. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Global Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara and then went on to conduct her own ethnographic field research project in Yucatán, Mexico. More recently Kimberly completed her master’s degree at California State University, Northridge in Sociology. Through CSUN Kimberly is a Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program Fellow. Her research interests primarily focus on intersectionality, social stratification, higher education, social institutions, race, gender, and identity. These areas inspired her current research project on the experiences of women of color faculty members in the higher education labor market
