Professional Title:
Postdoctoral Fellow
Bio:

Leia Belt is a medical sociologist and DuBosian scholar who employs interdisciplinary methodologies and data visualization techniques to assess the pervasive impact of structural racism within the realms of education and healthcare. Her recent project has illuminated a significant correlation between Sundown towns—an early manifestation of racial violence and segregation—and adverse maternal and infant health outcomes. As a postdoctoral fellow at the HERE Lab, she collaborates on the Du Bois S.E.R.V.E. project, which explores Du Boisian approaches to research methods, data visualization, and inclusive STEM curriculum development.
