Please join us in congratulating UC Merced 2020-2021 Black Research Fellowship recipients for their award winning projects!
Professor Irenee Beattie, along with Ph.D. student Melissa Quesada and Professor Whitney Pirtle have been recognized for their submission, “Unpacking ‘Black’: Ending Erasure and Homogenization of Black College Student Experiences.” Tatiana Howell, sociology undergraduate awardee for “Black Wellness Initiative at UC Merced”, and Tuccoa Polk, our SSHA research administrator, is also recognized for her project “But why are you offended? An examination of how microaggressions foster anti-Blackness in the workplace at UC Merced.”
The awardees will present their projects on advancing racial justice and Black liberation at UC Merced during the Spring 2021 Virtual Black Excellence Research Symposium being held May 7th, 2021. Please mark your calendar to attend!
