Sociology Professor Ed Flores was recently featured on Valley Public Radio, where he discussed the potential economic and social consequences of mass deportations in California’s Central Valley. Flores, Faculty Director of the UC Merced Community and Labor Center, warned that deportations would devastate local economies, especially industries like agriculture, where undocumented workers make up a significant portion of the workforce.

Flores called for stronger protections for undocumented workers and better pathways to citizenship, emphasizing the long-term costs of deportation policies for both workers and communities.
