Sociology Faculty and Graduate Students attend the 2020 Sociology of Education Association Conference

The UC Merced Sociology Department was well represented at the 2020 Sociology of Education Association Conference held in Pacific Grove, CA February 21st through February 23rd. This year’s theme was “The Limits of American Education’s Promise.”

Keynotes speakers at the conference were Dr. Tressie McMillan-Cottom, Associate Professor of Sociology, Virginia Commonwealth University; and Dr. Gilda L. Ochoa, Professor of Chicana/o Latina/o Studies, Pomona College.

The Sociology of Education Association (SEA) is an informal group of scholars and educators from both the fields of sociology and education, who meet annually to engage in discussion of issues at the intersection of sociology and education.
