Sociology Grad Student Committee (SGSC)

The Sociology Graduate Student Committee (SGSC) at UC Merced represents and
supports sociology graduate students through academic engagement, professional
development, and community-building initiatives. Our work includes a range of
collaborative and service-oriented activities:
● Participating in monthly faculty meetings to advocate for and support graduate
students’ academic well-being
● Organizing Q&A panels and informational events for prospective students
● Hosting workshops and inviting guest speakers to foster professional
development opportunities
● Representing sociology graduate students at the Graduate Student Association
(GSA) monthly meetings to maintain strong connections with the broader campus
graduate community
● Building community through social and networking events
● Coordinating volunteer initiatives on and off campus as part of our commitment to
civic engagement

Meet our 2025–26 SGSC Representatives.
