The Sociology Department is proud to announce that Jovana Ramos has successfully defended her dissertation and earned her PhD. Her research, titled “The Journey to a Bachelor’s Degree: Latine Community College Students’ Access to Alternative Sources and Types of Social Capital,” sheds light on the role of social capital in the educational journeys of Latine community college students.
Dr. Ramos' committee included Dr. Irenee Beattie as chair, alongside Professors Yang Lor and Daisy Reyes. Please join us in celebrating this significant achievement and wishing her continued success in her future endeavors!
