Announcing the Winners of the 2025 Law & Society People’s Choice Podcast Award

May 14, 2025

This spring, students in the Sociology Department's Law & Society course took on a unique challenge: work in teams to closely examine a pressing issue in U.S. law and society, then bring it to life through a compelling, publicly accessible podcast.

Each group chose a specific topic within one of three areas of legal governance—legislative, executive, or judicial—and tackled tough questions about power, policy, and justice. From identifying key players and unpacking complex legal dynamics, to crafting stories that resonate beyond the classroom, these podcasts reflected not only research and rigor but creativity and connection.

Once all 10 teams shared their final podcasts, the class had the chance to listen, reflect, and vote for their favorite in the "People’s Choice" competition.

The votes are in, and we’re thrilled to reveal this semester’s standout storytellers:

Congratulations to Kailie Guardado, Jared Kasoff, Daphnee Keltner, Kevin Ramirez Mora, and Melissa Rivera Vega for their award-winning podcast on the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court case!
